FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, released from prison on bail, has been allowed to use his mobile phone. However, the device must not have access to the Internet: only calls and SMS.
According to Bloomberg, citing a letter from prosecutors to US District Judge Lewis Kaplan, prosecutors agreed to modify the conditions for the former FTX boss’s release.
Bankman-Fried’s means of communication will be a flip phone or any other “non-smart phone” without Internet access. Additionally, the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange is prohibited from communicating with current and former employees of FTX or Alameda Research without an attorney present. Only with immediate family.
Bankman-Fried will live at her parents’ home in California and will wear an electronic ankle bracelet. She can only visit 23 pre-approved sites, including Netflix delivery services, Uber Eats and DoorDash, Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), etc.
In addition, the creator of FTX will have access to Internet resources that his lawyers deemed necessary to build a defense. Bankman-Fried can’t use the VPN or his parents’ phones.
Last December, a New York court agreed to release the former head of bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, on a record $250 million bail pending trial for fraud.
