In one of the issues on the Quke.ru YouTube channel, expert Andrey compared the performance and features of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE and S23 Plus smartphones. The latter is now in the version with 256 GB for around 87 thousand rubles, and the S21 FE – about 55 thousand rubles (excluding discounts). Does it make sense to overpay at all?
The S23 Plus has a glass back and metal side frames. At the same time, the rear panel and bezels of the S21 FE are made of plastic. Therefore, when you take these smartphones in your hands, you immediately understand which one is more expensive.
In terms of dimensions and ergonomics, these devices are identical. The fingerprint scanner is slightly faster on the S23 Plus. According to the IP68 standard, stereo, wireless charging, water and dust protection support are available on both smartphones.
As for the screen, the screens are pretty much the same except diagonally: 6.6 inches on the S23 Plus, 6.4 inches on the S21 FE. Additionally, the overall screen is slightly brighter on the Galaxy S23 Plus.
Of the processors, S23 Plus – on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (the best for today), S21 FE – on Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100. Even with daily use of smartphones, the difference in the speed of opening apps is palpable, but insignificant. Therefore, both devices are ideal for everyday work. And they show similar performance results even in games.

In terms of autonomy, too, the S23 Plus is the leader: it has a longer life, has a battery capacity of 4700 mA.h (vs 4500 mAh) and the maximum charging power is 45 W (vs. 25 W for the S21 FE). The Galaxy S23 Plus is fully charged at 45 watts in 56 minutes, and the S21 FE at 25 watts in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Everything is unclear in terms of cameras. The front camera takes pretty much the same photos on both devices. The main camera block includes the main lens (50 MP for the S23 Plus and 12 MP for the S21 FE), telephoto (10 MP in both cases), ultra-wide (12 MP). In any case, the quality of taking photos and videos on the main camera of the S23 Plus also surpasses the Galaxy S21 FE. Pictures have more detail and less noise.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is better than the S21 FE in every way. And this is really felt when using one and the other. But if you do not want to pay a lot of money for a cool smartphone with good performance, with moisture protection, take the Galaxy S21 FE: although cheaper, it is certainly not twice as bad as the S23 Plus.
