WhatsApp will launch a feature soon fight ads and scams those using voice calls. The vehicle, which is currently in the testing phase, mutes incoming calls from numbers not registered in the user’s contact list.

With the constant leaks of users’ personal data, the volume of unwanted calls offering services or trying to practice fraud has raised concerns. So much so that the popularity of call blockers has also increased.

WhatsApp native call blocker

Some Android smartphones offer built-in settings aimed at blocking numbers identified as spam. However blockers and these settings security job only for calls made over the telephone networkDoes not include calls over the web.

In an attempt to adapt and circumvent these security measures, many companies, legitimate or not, have started using WhatsApp as a platform to attract customers (or victims). The new functionality gives the user the option to mute incoming calls from numbers not registered in the contact list.

The tool is currently in internal testing and will reach users registered in the trial program first beta of whatsapp.
