Moscow authorities plan to launch a smart system that will detect various incidents and emergencies on the roads using artificial intelligence. This system, called PRO-Event, will detect violations and raise an alarm if a fire or obstacle is detected on the road. This data will be used by emergency services and to improve traffic management.
Moscow authorities allocate 285 million rubles to create this system. It will be based on neural networks and will be able to recognize emergencies that do not require violation of Traffic Rules. This includes break-ins and accidents, as well as many other situations that can affect road safety.
In addition to detecting violations, PROEvent will also be used to analyze and improve traffic management. This will help improve incident response and provide drivers with information about traffic conditions. However, there is concern about false alarms coming from the system due to the neural network’s misinterpretation of some situations in heavy city traffic. Despite this, the implementation of such a system can contribute to road safety and reduce accidents.
