Hyundai Palisade became the most popular car model for theft in 2022: almost one in every hundred insured cars was stolen, according to the materials of the Renaissance Insurance group. The company notes that cases of theft of Korean cars have become more frequent in Russia.
Most often, South Korean Genesis, Hyundai and Kia car owners suffer from intruders. At the end of last year, the Hyundai Palisade was the most stolen, the top 5 also included Genesis G70, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.
Overall, according to Renaissance Insurance, the number of thefts and vehicle thefts in Russia in 2022 decreased by 30% compared to 2021. The company noted a sharp drop in the number of cases in January, with spikes in hijacking activity occurring in March-April and August-September 2022.
The Renaissance Insurance report notes that the most stolen cars are the most in demand among buyers. They are disassembled and then used parts are sold.
