Facebook* will bring back the ability to chat in the social network application. Previously, in 2014, the company moved the messaging function to a separate messenger.
The fact that the social network is testing this possibility, wrote the head of Facebook, Tom Alison. The company explained the changes to the functionality out of a desire to give users the “best experience.” Facebook gave the same justification about 9 years ago, when an independent messaging service appeared.
According to Alison, users of the social network should be able to quickly and conveniently share all types of content. The need to switch between apps can create additional complications.
He also added that during the day using the company’s applications, users send more than 140 billion messages. And about 2 billion people use Facebook* directly every day.
The Verge admits that the company decided to take this step as part of the growing competition with the TikTok service.
