Data was collected from more than 42,000 Apple Watch users. In total, the researchers analyzed more than 2.9 million nighttime watch users. They found that only 31% of these people slept at least seven hours a night; this is the minimum recommended sleep time for healthy adults.
The American Heart Association warns that sleeping less than seven hours can put you at risk for “cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline and dementia, depression, obesity, and high blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels.”
