The authors of the new scientific study examined data from two large longitudinal studies of United States residents. They were concerned with differences in well-being and Big Five personality traits (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience) between urban and rural residents.
Villagers appeared to have lower levels of openness, conscientiousness, and psychological well-being. They also have a higher level of neuroticism than city dwellers. This may be due to the lack of access to psychological help.
