But a recent study by scientists from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden and the University of California, San Diego found that the ability to learn from others plays an important role in their daily activities.
The experts came to this conclusion based on experiments that showed that young worker bees from larvae to newly matured learn the correct dance from more experienced bees and point to the correct flight direction for nectar.
Therefore, in some hives where older worker bees were absent, young bees had to rely solely on innate skills. As a result, their first dance was far from perfect.
But as soon as the young insects were placed next to the “old comrades”, they very quickly showed a more accurate flight direction.
