A new study led by experts from the University of Ottawa reveals how there is a link between sleep disturbances and stroke in Canadian adults.
An article published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal states that nearly two-thirds of stroke survivors in Canada suffer from sleep disturbances. Stroke survivors were seven times more likely to report sleep problems compared to the general population.
But at the same time, a student in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, study author, and Ph.D. According to Matthew Jeffers, more research is needed to study patient populations in sleep labs. This will provide an opportunity to understand how stroke and insomnia, sleep apnea, are linked.
