Marketplaces will blacklist sellers of illegal products, which may appear as early as Q2 2023. These are products that are subject to mandatory labelling.

The markets will create a blacklist of sellers of illegal products

Online platforms will have access to the list and will be able to block violators. The Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) told Izvestia that the issue is being discussed with the markets and is also being tested with Yandex.Market.

The platforms will first filter sellers using tag data. Mandatory identification codes include shoes, light industry products, perfumes, fur coats, tires and tubes, and other products.

If the labeling rules are violated, for example, the entrepreneur does not register in the system or does not put an identification code on the product, the market will automatically know about it. The seller will be blacklisted.

The idea is to block it on the platforms: all markets will have access to the list, so the offender will not be able to trade on large sites.

The Center added that by applying this approach, the prices of goods will not increase and the market share of legal sellers will increase. Several sites are already planning to join the project, but the final decision will be made at the level of the Association of Internet Commerce Companies, the publication’s interlocutors noted.
