Vladimir Putin approved amendments to the law on combating money laundering. Now Russians can make purchases of up to 15 thousand rubles in foreign online stores without going through identification.
According to the updated document, a citizen of the Russian Federation does not need to go through additional procedures to purchase goods worth up to 15,000 rubles in a foreign online store.
Under previous legislation, in a similar situation, a person had to submit to simplified identification or appear in person at a bank branch.
As indicated in the explanatory note, the bill should optimize the administrative burden for banks and provide citizens with alternative ways to pay for purchases.
The exceptions to the amendments are cases where bank employees suspect a customer of laundering illegal proceeds or financing terrorism. In addition, identification will be required if the money is being transferred to an individual or to a non-profit organization (except religious, charitable and other organizations).
