GV Plekhanov Denis Perepelitsa, Head of the Department of Global Financial Markets and Fintech at the Russian University of Economics, explained that digital rubles will be tokenized, that is, they will have a unique code with which all transactions made with them can be traced. Thus, digital retirement will not “run out”.
According to Perepelitsa, receiving a pension in digital rubles will be a voluntary and alternative payment method. In addition, it will be possible to receive not only pension but also salary in digital rubles.
The timing of the digital retirement rollout has yet to be determined. The expert believes that at first there will be a transition period where citizens will be able to choose between regular and digital accounts.
