Under the draft law, which will go into effect in the state in March next year, the younger generation will be able to use these applications only with the consent of their parents, and this procedure will be strictly controlled. Also, the bills talk about the introduction of curfews for certain age categories regarding the use of these resources, parental control and age verification function. In fact, the logic of the bills is similar to Chinese law.
The documents also set out requirements for a strict ban on social networks that “use design or features that cause minors to become addicted to the company’s social media platform.”
But it’s unclear how Utah plans to enforce these laws and how they will apply to existing social media accounts of children and teenagers.
