The researchers examined data on the incidence of cancer in nearly 900,000 military personnel. Compared with other categories of the population, the incidence of cancer turned out to be 24% higher in aircrew and 3% higher in ground crew.
Some types of cancer were more common in them than in other people. These are melanoma, thyroid cancer and prostate cancer. Women were more likely to get breast cancer.
