The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to place multifunctional centers, post offices and branches of the Russian Post in the free areas of the shopping center. The idea arose in the context of the deteriorating financial performance of shopping centers.
Shopping centers will increase the number of visitors, and MFC and Russian Post will receive attractive rental offers, Izvestia reported.
- From January to November 2022, the index of the number of visitors per 1000 m2. m in a shopping center with an area of more than 80 thousand square meters. M. in Moscow and the Moscow region fell by 25% year on year. Performance was affected by the exit of foreign brands.
- The decline in attendance at the mall also played a role in the decline in promotional activity. A minimal start-up of commercial real estate was expected at the end of 2022. Analysts don’t expect a restoration of Russian interest in shopping malls until mid-2023.
