I love MagSafe, the iPhone magnet and everything that can connect with it. Even if it is communicated unofficially and in fact is not a “mag-safe”.
Wherever I live regularly, I got holders, docking stations and so on. I put the iPhone there, charging goes on, everything is gorgeous. Because of this, all Russian marketplaces vied with each other to bring me more and more docking stations of various kinds.
The other day I saw an unusual combo on Yandex.Market. MagSafe-compatible power bank that charges on a docking stand – all from Xiaomi. I could not resist, order and share my impressions now.
What it is
This is Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank. It consists of a portable battery and a docking station, in fact, for the battery.
The portable battery is wireless and attaches to the iPhone with a MagSafe-style magnet. The magnet is not just strong – it seems to me that THE MOST POWERFUL MAGNET, which is ever seen in accessories. The force of attraction here is three times higher than that of the original “washers” from Apple.
The battery capacity is 5000 mAh, it produces 12 watts. This fact is neither cold nor hot for iPhone owners, because the iPhone consumes up to 7.5 watts for wireless charging. The battery also has a USB-C port for direct cable charging.
The dock holds the battery with the iPhone at an angle, like most conventional magnetic stands. When a powerbank installs its input cradles, it is loaded through the input connectors.
All this is well connected to a 20-watt charging block, it is not included in the kit. But you can use the standard one from Apple.
Works fine?
Yes, I did not notice any cons for several days of testing. I use it as a stand most of the time.
The advantage of such a stationary wireless charging scheme for the workplace is that it will not be interrupted when you need to remove your iPhone to make a call or leave. Well, a magnetic portable battery is also in the box office for the case when you need to leave for a long time.
Pbankauer charges iPhone normally. Holds just to kill. Tested with an iPhone 13 Pro Max with a heavy case. It is unlikely that the “bank” is suitable for the iPhone mini, because it is large. For other models it should be OK.
5000 mAh gives one full charge of any iPhone model, even taking into account all the efficiency losses in the coil. Some may not like that the battery is fresh on the back. Just white plastic and that’s it. Personally, this does not bother me, the device is useful and does not pretend to fees.
For 3400 rubles (the lowest price in Russia) two devices in one from Xiaomi. Both are so normal that there is nothing special to write about them and it is impossible to find fault. The only thing – it’s a pity that there is no black version.
