Russian warehouses were overflowing with smartphones, tablets, accessories and other electronics amid a nearly 30% drop in demand. Sellers are forced to sell products at a discount of 15-20%.
At the same time, not all electronic devices are outdated. For example, Apple and Samsung devices sell out quite quickly. But Chinese devices from not very popular or unknown manufacturers have been waiting for buyers for a long time, Izvestia learned.
The head of TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov agreed that the electronics market in Russia is overloaded. According to him, importers could overestimate the demand. In addition, equipment from little-known Chinese manufacturers that do not invest in promotion in Russia is harder to sell than products from Apple or Samsung, he concluded.
- In 2022, customs duties on the import of electronics and equipment to Russia fell by 40%. Experts cited the departure of foreign suppliers and the incompletely legal activities of resellers as the main reasons for this drop. Experts expect that if current market conditions persist, customs duties will fall another 40% in 2023.
