The electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla in the first quarter of 2023 increased deliveries by 36.4% year-on-year, to 422.8 thousand cars. During this time, the company delivered 412.1 thousand models 3 and Y, models S and X – 10.6 thousand.
Production for the reported quarter amounted to 440.8 thousand electric vehicles, 1.4 times more in annual terms and only 0.3% in quarterly terms. In the prior quarter, Tesla produced 421,300 Model 3 and Y electric vehicles and 19,400 Model S and X vehicles.
Tesla doesn’t break out its data by region, but according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), in the first two months of 2023, the company sold 140,400 vehicles made at its Shanghai plant, TechCrunch writes.
The association has yet to release data for March, but if March shipments match February’s, that would mean more than 50% of shipments in the first quarter came from Shanghai.
