Apple has patented a cover for touchscreen headphones. It is assumed that it will be possible to use it as a device for controlling the functions of the headphones, as well as monitoring the screen of the currently playing track.
Documents on the new Apple patent are posted on the website of the US Patent and Trademark Office. The application was filed in 2021.
As Apple engineers envisioned, a headphone case with a display can be used as a device to control AirPods functions: adjust the volume level, change tracks, and more. The display will show which track is currently playing.
Apple also described this gadget as a device with tactile feedback, that is, potentially accessible to people with disabilities.
In March, a US corporation filed a patent for a technology to control all smart home devices with a wave of the hand.
