Bederov said that such a plan has already been used to endanger politicians and businessmen. He added that special tools can be found on the Internet that simplify phishing via a QR code.
The expert advised WhatsApp users to enable two-factor authentication and disable the storage of correspondence on the messaging server. He also advised against scanning suspicious QR codes and not trusting messages from the so-called WhatsApp administration.
