Deutsche Bank decided to close its IT technology centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg

In 2022, a German bank hired about 700 developers with their families from Russia and Germany. The rest of the employees, of which there are about 500 people, the company offered individual compensation.

Sources of the publication emphasized that while Deutsche Bank has not made an official decision on the complete cessation of IT operations in Russia, however, within the company this is considered a fait accompli.

Deutsche Bank relies on Russian experience in the IT field since 2001, the newspaper reports. Until February 2022, a quarter of the bank’s IT specialists – 1,500 people – worked in Moscow and St. Petersburg and were responsible for the development and support of the bank’s software.

Last June, the bank announced the creation of a new technology center in Berlin to “reduce the risks of operations in the Russian Technology Center,” and then moved about 700 Russian employees.

Subsequently, the bank offered to relocate all its employees, and half of them agreed. In total, including family members, about 2 thousand people moved to Germany.
