Apple is particularly interested in manufacturing MacBooks in Thailand, writes Nikkei Asia.

The negotiations involve suppliers who already have production in Thailand and cooperate with other enterprises. They believe that Apple is able to assemble and manufacture components for the MacBook.

Ideally, Apple would require us to set up a MacBook manufacturing facility in Vietnam, following in the footsteps of other proposals, but we offered an alternative option to manufacture products in our factories in Thailand, where there is still a huge amount of space that can be reserved for the customer.

MacBook assembly first begins in Vietnam, and we also source components from our factories in Thailand. It is inevitably only two to three days of logistics and customs clearance.
