The Skoltech Institute, with the support of the NTI Foundation, has created the first Russian 5G base station.
By the end of 2023, it is planned to release about 100 such base stations. Some “unfriendly countries” have already shown interest in the development.
A three-year project for the production of the first sample of a domestic station of the fifth generation of communication (5G) has been successfully completed. The work was implemented by Skoltech with the support of the NTI Foundation as part of the Digital Economy state program supervised by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.

To create a highly acclaimed Leading Research Center project. Within 39 months, the creation of a software and hardware complex for 5G networks, which is responsible for the security of the industry, was carried out.
The meeting spent 342 million rubles, 300 million of which were concentrated as a state grant. The solution itself includes its own software, and also uses modules that are produced in Russia by an industrial partner project at the request of operators and other customers. The pilot batch is already ready.
The base stations are designed in full compliance with the 3GPP INF and OpenRAN. The peak speed of Internet traffic exchange is 1.4 Gbps. The Skoltech solution supports the 4.4-4.99 GHz band, and “due to the modular design of the base station and support for modern functions, the development provides export potential.” [ТАСС]
