They announce the amount of fines that will be imposed on officials and legal entities for sending important information in foreign messengers. According to the bill, the transfer of financial information, for example, to WhatsApp * or Telegram, will face a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles for officials, up to 700 thousand rubles for legal entities.
The State Duma has received a bill on the introduction of liability in the form of fines under the article of the Code of Administrative Offenses for the transfer of financial and personal information through foreign couriers.
Deputies propose to fine officials in the amount of 30 to 50 thousand rubles, legal entities – in the amount of 100 to 700 thousand rubles.
In Russia, since March 2023, the use of foreign couriers for various organizations has been prohibited. It applies to banks, brokers, non-state pension funds, insurers and others. They are prohibited from using foreign couriers to transfer confidential and financial information.
According to the Roskomnadzor list, the list of foreign messengers includes Telegram, WhatsApp*, Viber, WeChat, Snapchat, Discord, Threema, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business.
*WhatsApp belongs to the Meta organization, whose activities are recognized as extremists on the territory of the Russian Federation and are prohibited.
