The service’s analysts prepared a study based on its own database of information leaks, which have been running since 2004. It includes the number of compromised records that contain only personal data and payment information.

Each leak last year increased by a third in volume compared to the prior year period and contained around 940,000 records. About 80% of breaches occurred in cases where external and internal offenders could participate in data theft.

The proportion of information leaks in the “trade secret” category has doubled. The proportion of leaks in the group of retail stores, hotels, cafeterias and restaurants increased almost fivefold. It has tripled in industrial, transport and energy companies. Small businesses accounted for more than 20% of leaks, a share that has doubled since 2021.

According to experts, the theme of the past year was free leaks of personal data with no plans to make money from it. Experts say that hackers break everything they can, the probability of a leak depends on the size of the company’s information infrastructure and its investments in information security.
