A dispute between two famous names in the tech world is responsible for what we know as OpenAI, the company that owns ChatGPT. Elon Musk, who disagreed with Larry Page about the security of artificial intelligence, decided to create the “furthest thing from Google”.

In an interview with South African billionaire Tucker Carlson, “OpenAI exists because Larry Page and I used to be close friends and we stayed at his Palo Alto home to talk to him late at night about AI security.” this Monday (17).

Musk, owner of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, among other companies, made the change by saying: your friend thought you didn’t take AI security seriously. “A kind of digital superintelligence, basically digital God wanted, as soon as possible, if you will,” he added.

The businessman also seized the opportunity to identify the way Google approaches artificial intelligence. He believes that great technological AI has both good and bad potential.

Conversations about artificial intelligence between Elon Musk and Larry Page go back almost a decade to 2014. The dispute led to the opening of OpenAI the following year. Tesla’s CEO left the company three years later and is now a critic of the startup.

“I thought the furthest thing from Google would be like a completely open, nonprofit, because Google shut down, it was for-profit. So, ‘open’ in OpenAI stands for open source, transparency so people know what’s going on. ” Now Elon Musk plans to build the artificial intelligence itself, currently called TruthGPT.
