The robot uses two robotic arms equipped with “massage hands” that are similar in size and shape to human hands. Can apply four traditional massage techniques. The system adapts to changes in the patient’s posture and muscle stiffness using an adaptive control algorithm.

To train the robot, researchers collected data from experienced massage therapists using motion capture and force measurement tools.
