Walnuts are rich in alpha-linolenic fatty acid, a type of omega-3 that plays an important role in brain development, especially during adolescence.

This substance stimulates synaptic growth of the frontal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for complex emotional and cognitive functions.

During the study, the scientists analyzed the data of 700 schoolchildren aged 11 to 16 years. The youth were divided into two groups: one group consumed 30 g of walnuts per day for six months, the second group continued to eat as usual.

As a result, teens who added walnuts to their diets for at least 100 days improved their attention span. Therefore, those experiencing symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) noticed a significant improvement in their behavior.

All participants in the first group showed an increase in mobile intelligence. This discovery could play an important role in identifying nutritional supplements beneficial for adolescent health and development.
