Apple has partnered with the University of Michigan to share statistics on the impact of external noise on its users in the US.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Environmental Protection Agencies, people should not be exposed to average noise levels above 70 decibels. Starting with watchOS 6, people can trust the noise level with their Apple Watch.

According to indications, one in three adults in the US, about 77 million people, is exposed to increased noise levels. The states of California, Texas, Florida and New York became the most “loud”.

The highest percentage of participants, the highest noise level (above 70 dB), resides in Puerto Rico (44%) and the lowest in Washington, DC (20%).
