Boston Dynamics He has already succeeded in changing the robotics paradigm with the advent of Spot, his classic android dog that can perform automated tasks and is already infiltrating companies.

Now the development team wanted to go even further: they just outfitted it with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Text-to-Speech voice modulation, allowing you to literally talk to them and answer their questions.

IN video posted on twittermachine learning engineer Santiago Valdarrama showed how he and a colleague programmed the Spot robot dog to verbally answer system questions using the hugely popular OpenAI tool.

“These robots perform automated missions every day,” Valdarrama explained in his twitter threadnoting that each mission includes “miles-long, hard-to-understand configuration files” that only engineers can understand.

We have integrated ChatGPT with our robots.

“This is where ChatGPT comes in,” he continued. “We show you configuration files and mission results. We then ask questions using this context. Pair this with the voice interface and we have a great way to query our data!”

In addition, Spot responds with gestures to certain precise instructions from Valderrama.

“We believe our work is just the beginning of a change in how we develop robotic systems,” the company said in a statement, “and we hope to inspire other researchers to explore this exciting field.”
