In a congressional hearing, Nelson stated that the United States plans to replace the ISS with commercial orbital stations and is currently contracting several companies to develop these stations.

Meanwhile, Russia announced that work on the ISS continues until 2028.

The ISS has been the premier platform for scientific research and international cooperation in orbit and space for more than 20 years. The decision to take the ISS out of orbit marks the end of an era, but it also opens up new opportunities for commercial space exploration. Therefore, earlier Airbus offered its own version of the station that could replace the ISS.
