Hyundai has begun testing on public roads the Ioniq 5 electric vehicle with an e-Corner system that can activate the wheels 90 degrees.
The demo video shows the Ioniq 5 being driven around Hyundai’s proving ground and on roadside inspections.
The car can park in parallel, turn 180 degrees on the spot, turn only the rear wheels and drive diagonally.
During the tests, Ioniq 5 installed four electric motors (for one wheel), as well as a custom suspension that allows the wheels to turn 90 degrees. Thanks to the growth of electric motors, wheels can accelerate and brake independently of each other. [Prnasia]
