Samsung Electronics has restricted its employees from using generative artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT on work devices, Bloomberg has learned.

Samsung bans employees from using ChatGPT on work devices

In early April, the company’s engineers accidentally leaked some of the source code while uploading it to ChatGPT. Samsung management claims that data coming into such platforms is stored on external servers. They are easy to detect but difficult to eliminate.

In this sense, the company decided to prohibit the use of generative AI systems on all work devices, including tablets, phones and all internal networks. The ban also applies to Bard and Bing.

And those who use such tools on their own devices are prohibited from uploading any work-related information there. As sanctions for non-compliance with the new rules, the company agrees to dismiss.

However, Samsung is developing its own internal AI-based tools. In particular, the programs are expected to be used to process documents as well as to write program code.

Earlier, an American businessman, co-founder of OpenAI, prohibited the developer from using the data from his social network Twitter.
