Sports nutritionist Amy Goodson has listed seven ways to get rid of belly fat in your 50s.
Add interval cardio to your workout. This is also called High Intensity Interval Training. It can burn a lot of fat without having to spend hours in the gym. This workout lasts only 20 minutes and may include sprinting, cycling, jumping, with short breaks in between.
Increase your fiber intake. Fiber helps you lose weight by making you feel fuller for longer. Plus, research shows that the more fiber you eat, the less belly fat you’ll have.
Add Protein to Meals. Like fiber, protein helps you feel full for longer. It also accelerates weight loss and is important for maintaining muscle mass while losing weight.
Avoid high-calorie sugary drinks. For example, from juices, sweet tea, carbonated drinks, energy drinks, alcoholic beverages (it is a mixture of ingredients).
Identify a calorie deficit. This is an important part of losing weight and helps burn belly fat. In other words, you consume fewer calories than you burn.
getting enough sleep. Scientific research shows that sleep deprivation can make you feel hungry. Healthy sleep can also be associated with fat loss and weight gain. Adults (i.e. those over 18) should aim to get seven hours or more of sleep each night.
drink enough water. Dehydration can cause constipation, which leads to swelling and swelling of the stomach. Drinking water will help minimize bloating and fluid retention in the body. It will also help you lose weight as it helps you feel full and consume fewer calories.
