NPR left Twitter in April after being listed as a “government-funded media outlet.”
Musk asked an NPR reporter, “Will NPR start posting again on Twitter or should we move @NPR (account – ed.) to another company?” sent an e-mail.
According to Twitter policy, accounts can be permanently deleted due to inactivity, but “at this time the company cannot disclose inactive usernames.”
However, Musk told the organization that “Twitter’s policy is to recycle permanently inactive accounts.” “The same policy applies to all accounts. No special relationship with NPR.”
It’s unclear whether Twitter will update its official inactive account policy page with this information or take measures to protect former users from scammers.
