Amazon quietly acquires audio content search engine Snackable AI

Snackable AI founder and CEO Marie Joller has led the development of AI and machine learning technologies at Amazon Music, TechCrunch writes.

A startup with Estonian roots was founded in 2018 and specializes in finding audio content based on artificial intelligence. The system allows you to quickly and contextually find thematic snippets in audio recordings and display their short reviews in search results.

The founder’s LinkedIn profile says that Snackable AI has teamed up with Amazon “to continue to innovate and explore new opportunities for Amazon Music Podcasts customers.”

Prior to the deal, Crunchbase recalls, Snackable AI raised $3.1 million in funding.

Amazon added podcasts to its music platform in 2020 and has been constantly evolving the offering and adding new features ever since. Last November, the company made many of the popular podcasts available to Prime users on its ad-free service.
