A Truecaller announced this Monday (8) that it should make its caller ID services available on WhatsApp and soon in other messengers. The innovation was confirmed by the company’s CEO, Alan Mamedi. Reuters.

The feature that should help users identify telemarketing or spam calls on WhatsApp is currently in beta in the app.

A report published by Truecaller in 2021 showed that telemarketing and scam calls – calls used to commit scams – have increased significantly in countries like India, a country that has concentrated the largest number of corporate users in recent years.

“Over the past two weeks, we have seen an increase in reports of spam WhatsApp calls from users in India,” Mamedi said. According to the administrator, users in the region receive about 17 spam calls per month. The increase is likely a result of the Indian telecommunications regulator’s decision asking operators to block telemarketing calls.
