During the presentation, Iflytek Chairman Liu Qingfeng conducted a series of tests for SparkDesk in Chinese and English. The chatbot was given various tasks, such as grading students’ essays or writing a story about how Confucius participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
SparkDesk successfully completed the tasks and answered a few questions from event attendees. Qingfeng expressed the company’s intention to catch up with ChatGPT in English speech comprehension and surpass OpenAI technology in Chinese comprehension.
It is worth noting that Iflytek is not the only Chinese company that has decided to develop its own chatbot. Earlier, Bloomberg reported on Chinese Internet giant Baidu’s plans to create its own competitor for ChatGPT.
