IBM, one of the giants of the industry, launched its new artificial intelligence platform at the annual Think conference. IBM Watson. The platform offers a variety of tools for building AI models, as well as providing access to pre-trained models for generating computer code, text, and more.

Today, business leaders face significant challenges in implementing AI in the workplace. According to an IBM survey, 30% of executives cite trust and transparency issues as barriers to their adoption of AI capabilities. 42% mentioned privacy concerns, especially regarding productive AI.

To meet these challenges, IBM has launched Watsonx, which gives customers access to the toolset, infrastructure, and consulting resources needed to build their own AI models or fine-tune and adapt existing AI models to their own data.

Described by IBM as the “enterprise studio for AI creators”, Watsonx.ai allows users to validate and deploy models as well as monitor them once they’re deployed. In addition, IBM offers seven pre-trained models, some of which are open source, for companies using Watsonx.ai. The company has also partnered with artificial intelligence startup Hugging Face to include thousands of models, datasets and libraries developed by the company.

Along with Watsonx.ai, IBM also released Watsonx.data, an intelligent data storage system. Watsonx.data allows users to access data through a single entry point while implementing query engines, governance, automation and integrations with an organization’s existing databases and tools.

Complementing Watsonx.ai and Watsonx.data is Watsonx.governance, a suite of tools that provide mechanisms that help protect customer privacy, detect threats and model deviations, and comply with predetermined ethical standards.

IBM hopes that AI can add $16 trillion to the global economy by 2030, and that 30% of back office tasks will be automated in the next five years. The company also believes that artificial intelligence can change the way people work, making it a valuable tool for executives who use technology to increase their company’s efficiency and productivity.
