There he will dive into the subterranean ocean to look for signs of life. But the engineering team hopes to test the robot in hard-to-reach areas of Earth and Moon before it goes to Saturn’s moon.

The 4-meter robot reportedly moves by rotating ten identical segments equipped with threads for propulsion. Individual segments can act as propellers, allowing the device to explore underwater environments.

NASA experts said they hope the robot will eventually explore the habitable subterranean oceans of Saturn’s moon. But to get there, the device must pierce one of the many ice sources launched from the satellite’s surface and descend into the depths below.
