Google announced the “Help Me Write” functionality for Gmail this Wednesday (10) during Google I/O 2023. The function uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automatically generate an email.

According to the Mountain View giant, the innovation is an evolution of Smart Reply, the system that suggests short replies, and Smart Compose, which suggests words as you write an email.

“And now, with a much more powerful generative model, we’re taking the next step with the ‘Help Me Typing’ feature in Gmail. ‘Help Me Write’ will be released soon as part of our Workspace updates,” Google wrote.

The system will be similar to a ChatGPT, as it will be possible to write what type of text you need. In the example Google uses, someone asks the platform to write a message requesting a refund for a flight cancellation.

Users will also have options to redo, refine, shorten and more. The novelty doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s part of the new Google Workspace update.
