The electrified road will run for 21 kilometers along the E20 motorway between Hallsberg and Örebro. It was consciously chosen as it is a busy commercial transportation corridor. It also has the necessary power supply.
A contractor is currently sought for the project and various charging technologies are being considered, such as overhead power lines, ground power rails or road-mounted inductive coils.
These innovative solutions will enable electric vehicles to be powered on the go, eliminating the need to stop frequently to recharge.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by 2025, and the electrified road will be operational shortly thereafter.
