Irisa innovative constellation of satellitesone of a kind and all Italianis an ambitious project at the expense of 1.3 billion euros and it will consist of about 50 satellites of various shapes and sizes to observe from space what is happening on ours planet. The first launch takes place in 2025 and the first services should arrive in 2026.

On the occasion of the event, an online competition was launched to choose the program logo and the three logo candidates to become the official logo were presented by the Italian astronaut Luca Parmesan cheese.

Born at the end of 2021, Iride is a space program that provides a constellation of satellites of different characteristics and sizes whose purpose is to provide information from maritime traffic monitoring to fire control, particularly useful for government services and for the Civil Protection. The program is the result of a collaboration between theItalian Space Agency (ASI) and theEuropean Space Agency (ESA). The main focus will be on monitoring the planet and its changes.

One of the most innovative aspects will be sustainability. About 10% of the Italian population lives in risk areas, Italy is a kind of pier in the Mediterranean Sea and therefore particularly subject to climate change. We will now make a significant investment in its development, but in the future Iride will have to support itself through the market and services.
