Azimuth Airlines was the first among Russian airlines to receive permission to fly to Georgia. This was announced by the head of the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency Givi Davitashvili.

Azimut will be able to operate flights from May 17, they will be charter flights, Davitashvili said.

The ban on Russian airline flights to Georgia was lifted on May 15 by a decree signed earlier by Vladimir Putin. Also, from May 15, the visa regime for citizens of Georgia was canceled in Russia.

It was previously reported that three Russian airlines have applied to Georgia for permission to operate international flights to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi airports.
