The largest Russian banks began to charge a commission for transferring to themselves from another bank in the amount of 1-2% of the transaction amount. In 2023, the innovation appeared at VTB, Rosbank and Otkritie. In total, it is used by at least 15 players.
At the Central Bank, Izvestia was informed of receiving isolated complaints about commissions for “throwing away” money. Its size banks establish independently on the basis of contracts with customers. At the same time, changes to already concluded agreements must be agreed with the people.
In case of disagreement or infringement, users can contact the financial ombudsman service or the court. The FAS also reminded that customers should be warned about innovations.
Associate Professor of the Russian University of Economics GV Plekhanov Maxim Markov believes that in this way credit organizations are struggling with the outflow of money to other banks. The flow of money to the card of another bank causes payments to be made through it, and this generates the loss of income in the form of a possible commission.
