It is reported that the new feature will encrypt the user’s correspondence. They will be in a password or biometric protected folder and notifications from these chats will not show the sender or the content of the message.
Note that WhatsApp is already known for taking reasonable care for user correspondence. For example, it is one of the few messengers where end-to-end encryption is used automatically. In the same Telegram you need to start “Secret Chat” for this.
“Chat Lock” adds an extra layer of protection and this can be useful if you need to share your unlocked phone with someone on a regular basis.
