Although debut is not expected until 2024, this collaboration marks significant progress for MediaTek, which like Qualcomm is currently based on Arm.

The move follows Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia in 2021, which is set to improve future Snapdragon chipsets in the GPU space.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s partnership with AMD to bring AMD GPUs to Exynos processors ran into performance issues that caused the Exynos 2200 to be less efficient than expected.

This development could also benefit Chromebooks, in which MediaTek already owns a significant stake.
