As part of the Advanced Engineering Schools project, specialists from the Samara State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation developed the first Russian colposcope, a device that allows you to examine the vagina and cervix.

Until now, only foreign colposcopes were used in Russia. Among the advantages of the Russian device, its developers called 32x optical zoom – it provides high-quality image capture with clear visualization, a reliable light source and a magnifying lens. In addition, the device will have built-in functionality for data collection, storage and transmission for remote consultation and integration with the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (EMIAS).

Feldsher-obstetric stations and field ambulance crews are planned to be equipped with the device. The digital colposcope will increase the efficiency and scope of the screening (disease detection process) and can also be used to document forensic results.

Now the developers are faced with the task of testing a prototype device, and the final version will be available at the end of 2023.
