American blogger Don Swadley has developed a ready-made Shelby Cobra with a power plant from the Tesla Model S Plaid.
For the project, he used a plastic Shelby Cobra body that had to be lengthened to accommodate all the components. The car was able to install a 100 kWh engine and battery from the Model S Plaid.
The machine’s power is 1060 hp. It accelerates faster than a Tesla thanks to its lighter weight: the Shelby Cobra weighs 1,500 kg, which is 657 kg lighter than the Model S Plaid, which weighs 2,157 kg.
Thanks to high performance and reduced weight, acceleration is impressive, although Swadley did not give exact figures. However, slippage continues even at speeds of 100–110 km/h.
It was not possible to move the interior from the Tesla, with the exception of the dashboard on the screen. This was not a priority cover, so even the underfoot area is not separated from the engine bay. [Electrek]
